Burgau is located in the Western Algarve, Portugal tucked away in the heart of the Natural Park of Costa Vicentina, for many, one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places in Algarve.
The international airport of Faro is just 1 hour drive away from Burgau and Lagos, the most important city in the region, and one of the oldest, is as distant as a 10 minutes’ drive.
Burgau is a quiet, peaceful, delightful village, overlooking a small bay and a sandy beach.It is well protected from the overdevelopment, so you can still have a feeling of the old times.
Burgau is considered by many people a traditional and a fishing village mainly because it still maintains the typical characteristics of the region and the life style that was used many years ago in this area, although we can still see for example the fisherman fixing their fishing nets.
Burgau appeals to everyone, regardless of age or interests, since you can choose from a variety of activities, either a relaxed stay at the beach, a visit to the shops, a visit to the golf resorts in the nearby, surfing or exploring the breathtaking beaches in the surroundings. There is an exciting nightlife too.
Burgau is the perfect place to relax, and you won’t need to leave the village since it has all you need: supermarkets, bars, cafes, and superb restaurants were you can taste the typical dishes, such as the fresh fish. But if you want to explore this beautiful region, there are plenty of places within easy reach. Praia da Luz, with its busy nightlife and beautiful beach, just a 5 minute drive away and the fishing village of Salema. Sagres, the most southwesterly town in Europe, with stunning views and cliff faces around the beaches, known also for its surfing; Cabo de São Vicente, with the charming lighthouse; Martinhal, known for is lovely beach appreciated for wind and body surfers; and of course, Lagos with his lovely marina and town center of cobbled streets, long sandy bay and numerous sheltered cove beaches. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars, making this one of the busiest nightlives in Algarve.
